Program
The Hazard Communication program is for keeping employees informed of all hazardous chemicals with which they may work. It does not apply to any health/safety issues outside of chemicals.
Items Required
- Chemical Inventory Lists
- Container Labeling
- SDS (access/training)
- SDS must be readily available and readily accessible for ANY chemical to which an employee may be exposed. Therefore, a SDS must be provided upon request to not only the employee or employee’s representative but to the CSHO.

- Non-Routine Tasks
- The purpose of having methods to deal with non-routine tasks isn’t just in the cases where an employee runs on to an unlabeled container or for tasks that are encountered especially infrequently. For example, if a contractor came on-site to repair a natural gas furnace, employees would need to be trained on the hazards of natural gas in the event they were to be working close to the furnace repair. Someone and some method need to be designated in the program as to how employees will receive training in a previously-unknown scenario such as this.
